Dear Converse,

I have always secretly more or less disliked your over-priced shoes, cultural appropriation does not help your case. If I wanted to buy shoes that had anything to do with Native Americans, I would buy them from a Native American artist, not a multi-national company that thinks its okay to take something that is sacred to a large number of Native Americans - i.e. an already colonised and screwed over culture - and turn it into a fashion accessory. 

Thankfully alternatives exist, where Converse gets screwed over instead.

Like the incredibly talented Haida artist Sondra Simone, who by painting Haida designs on shoes has decided to use her art in order to reverse the appropriation of Native cultures.

In other words, if you want ‘Native’ shoes that aren’t offensive and actually support a Native artist, buy them from her instead.

Errr…those look like ordinary Converse mate…I think they’ve just put the head dress on for the fuck of it.
